Why can't I just start using a new name?
While Florida allows common law name changes in some contexts, a court order is required for official documents like passports, Social Security cards, and driver's licenses.
Do I need fingerprints and background check?
Yes. Florida requires a background check as part of the name change process. We'll coordinate this for you and ensure everything is properly submitted.
Will you represent me at the hearing?
Yes. This is full representation—we attend the hearing with you (usually remote via Zoom) and present your petition to the judge.
